Bridesmaid Letters

I wanted a cute way to ask my friends to be in my wedding, other than just a phone call. I went to Hallmark and had these invites made last week and sent them off to the six girls I want standing next to me! I think they should be getting them today, if they have not already!
My situation is different as to who we invite to the wedding. I grew up in Florida, so you might would figure that I would invite the people I grew up with to the wedding, however, I have not seen most of them in five years. Also, when my family moved to Alabama five years ago, I made a few close connections there, but only temporarily before I started living in Virginia full-time. So, who do I invite and not invite? Do I invite childhood friends that I haven't seen in years? Not sure what to do.....

Blog Sale!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did not take any pictures -- I need to work on that -- but it was a very restful weekend. Friday night, we worked on our wedding website at an adorable coffee shop in town and drank "Christmas in a Cup." Just use your imagination as to how good that drink tastes! Saturday, we went to Richmond, VA to get my ring sized. It was a nice little ride over there. Other than church on Sunday and a 6-mile run/walk, we did a lot of resting! I feel great today and definitely woke up with a pep.
As many of you have done, I am now hosting a blog sale site as well. I do not have too too much to sell, but just a few things along the way that I either don't wear much anymore or don't fit due to the fact I have lost 13 lbs! 2 more and I will reach my goal. Although, I feel like I want to lose more, but I guess I should stop. Do any of you feel that way when you reach your weight loss goal, you just feel the urge to lose more?
The first thing I have for sale is a Vera Bradley "Vera" bag. I am a huge fan of VB! Love it. I bought the Peacock print two years ago and it just has not been used as much as it should. Maybe it's the pattern I am not wild about. Anyhow, go take a look. I listed the price, but will consider best offers. I plan to skim my closet this evening to see if I have other things to list as well.

Proposal Story
I am so sorry to just leave you all hanging with the Proposal Story! It's been a busy week as you might could imagine. I have had countless phone calls, texts, facebook wall posts, and of course blog comments and all I have to say is a big thank you for your sweet words! Let's just say that I was BLOWN AWAY -- I did not see this coming so soon. Don and I have dated six months and I thought that we would get engaged in the spring, but I guess he just couldn't wait!
Since one of our first dates, Don mentioned how his town has carriage rides during the fall and Christmas season and that we would definitely need to go on one. So, when he called me a week prior to the big day and said that he made last-minute arrangements for a carriage ride (he actually had planned it a few weeks in advance), I just did not think anything of it. I went up to his house on Saturday morning and we had a normal weekend and did things we always did.... went to a movie, went on a walk, cooked dinner Saturday night, cooked waffles Sunday morning, so I didn't 'expect' anything special to happen. He was perfectly normal and calm all weekend. The reason we were dressed up in these pictures is because Don had a short work event Sunday afternoon downtown. The carriage ride left from downtown so I just thought it was all just a nice thing happening. You all have to know that this man always has little surprises and tricks up his sleeve. He is always doing sweet things, bringing me many flowers, getting gifts for me for no reason at all, so believe me when I tell you that I thought the carriage ride was just another one of those 'nice things'. We rode all through downtown and then into a garden where we went on one of our first dates. The horses stopped and he asked me to get out and walked me over to a bench we had sat on many dates ago. There was a red rose, a letter with a wax seal, and a gift on the bench and after reading the letter I started wondering what was going on?! He got down on his knee and told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and said, "Brittney, will you marry me?" All the while, pulling out a white box with a beautiful ring in it (which I LOVE). I stared at him in shock, then starting smiling really big then starting crying and said "YES!"
We finished the carriage ride and then went to Bonefish Grille for dinner. It was so good!

Night shot on the ride homeThank you all for your support and I look forward to telling you all about the wedding journey!

200 Q&A
I woke up this morning after pressing snooze 4 times (I do this every day and it has to stop!), picked up my BlackBerry while still in bed, loaded blogger.com and saw I now have 200 followers! I am so excited. I started this blog a little over a year ago just as an online venting session, and it has turned into something so much more positive! A year ago, I had no idea that other people blogged as well, but my, what a surprise it was to me when I 'met' each of you! I also love reading my friends' blogs from back home as well. Such a fun way to keep up with everyone's families, work lives, etc. I appreciate all the support many of you have given me throughout this year! Rejoicing and encouraging me through exciting times, as well as offering good advice during more challenging times. I am glad that today I am as happy as I have ever been.
I think as a celebration for the 200 fab followers, I want to open it up to a little Q&A! Many of you have hosted a question and answer post and now I would like to do the same. Feel free to leave a comment with any questions you may for me. I will post answers on my next post.
Thanks again, ya'll!

Bedroom Pictures
Thank you all so much for your comments! I am all moved in and there is only one more box -- I will have to sort through the jewelry box later. Here are more pictures of my bedroom. I am very proud of myself in this apartment -- I did not use one trace of PINK in my bedroom or bathroom! I would have normally had hot pink everywhere, but I decided to be a big girl and use more grown-up colors.

Moving weekend & Pumpkin Cookies

About a week ago, I came across this great recipe for Pumpkin Cookies. I immediately emailed it to myself because they looked delish. I got the recipe from A Wedding Story. At 10 p.m. last night, I got the urge to make them for the new home! It was very easy, quick, and they taste amazing. The glaze is the best part.

Also, as a follow up from my previous post about the BlackBerry Pearl, I can happily say that I am the new proud owner of the BlackBerry Tour! I absolutely love it! No more phone issues-- I am a happy girl!
Now, off to more boxes.....

Busy Friendships
When did we get so busy? I started asking myself this last night as I was alone in my hotel room. There are so many friends that I would love to spend several days with a week, but just.... can't. With work responsibilities and things within my personal life, I find it almost impossible to keep up with each close friend on a weekly basis. I wouldn't say this is ideal and I do wish I could spend more time with them. Sometimes I think friends get mad or agitated at me and may think that I have forgotten about them or aren't making them a priority. Maybe it is just my personality-- I am not a clingy/needy person whatsoever and I am one of those that actually needs alone time during the week. I know I am rambling.... I guess to sum this up, I am thankful for the friends that know where we stand. The ones that I can go a week or two without talking or hanging out and then we pick up right where we left off and I am not made to feel bad about not seeing or talking to them a particular week. Those relationships are definitely a breath of fresh air!
To all of my sweet friends that I only see every once and a while, but wish I saw much more often -- please know that I love you and am so thankful for you. Just because we don't see or talk each day, doesn't mean you aren't in my thoughts.

Pillows & Cakelove
I am in D.C. this week for work. So far, it has been a productive trip and I'm glad to be staying on-top of email while I am gone. Ever dread coming home from vacation because you know your email Inbox will be exceedingly long? That's how I was Sunday coming home from Orlando. I think I picked up Don's I-Phone 5 times to sort through what I could! Speaking of phones, I officially hate BlackBerry Pearls. I have had mine for a year and a half and I am about ready to chuck it out the window. Does anyone else have issues with the Pearl? About 4 times a day, my phone will erase all texts and call history. It won't allow any texts through or calls until I take out the battery and re-set it. It's absolutely rediculous! I hope to switch to the I-Phone as soon as I can before I lose my sanity. Okay, back on track.... Orlando trip. We had a great time! It was a quick trip, but worth it! The purpose of the trip was an event for Don's family. I only took one picture -- isn't that sad?!
The big apartment move starts Friday after I get home! However, I have not packed any boxes yet. I have not had any time! I plan to take pictures and document the entire process and will post about it next week, along with pictures when it is camera-ready. I have not bought anything for the apartment yet, just because I only plan to live in it for a short while. I do have a short need-list, though. One item being-- couch pillows. I love my cream couch, but it has cream pillows and needed a pop of color. I was at Pier 1 today after work and found these great pillows on a fantastic sale! **Please note: This is the first thing I have bought for myself in MONTHS** (see this post). Because of this, I stood in the store contemplating for several minutes whether or not to buy them and even turned around after I left the store to go return them because I felt guilty, but then I told myself to get a grip and that it was OK. I love them and they will look fab on my couch.
After I got to the hotel, I caught up on email, blogs, news, weather, you name it, and then went for a good workout! Featured below was my workout attire for the evening with Marie Claire magazine in tow!
Okay okay, I know... I went and got one cupcake at CakeLove, but that's because I had heard such great things about this place and had to try one! I had red velvet!

I have good news to share! We are moving into our beautiful apartment November 1! We are so excited! We also found out while we were there that our first month's rent is free. How did we luck up with that? I have no idea!
*This is Day 2 of my three day work week. I am loving it.
*Don and I are going to Orlando this week/weekend!
*I get to see my dad on Sunday as we will be passing through the city he is working in this weekend.
*I started packing for the move! I am very skilled at moving by now.
*I have lost another 2 pounds. It just keeps coming off. I really don't know when I should stop.
Here are some pictures from our Homecoming Weekend! I had a lot of good friends come into town. We tried out new restaurants, spent good time together, and saw The Stepfather. Can I say scary?! The weather was in the low 50s -- it was cold, but I was excited to wear lots of fall things.

Weekend of Sickness
Thankfully, I was not sick this weekend, but sweetness & Hutch both were. I hated leaving them this morning to drive back home and to work. I have never had a dog before (my mother is allergic to animals so we never had one) and I am learning bit by bit how to take care of Hutch. He is growing bigger and bigger each week I see him and he is so much stronger than me! I have zero pictures to report -- it was a real low-key weekend.
What is it about October that just wears me out?! I feel that there is something big going on with work every day. My personal life is just as crazy. We decided on an apartment and will be moving in one month. Although excited, I hate living this "hodge podge" lifestyle I am living up until the move. I have not decorated one inch of space this fall season. No pumkin candles, no pumpkins on the porch, no fall wreath.... nothing. I keep telling myself "Just four weeks, just four more weeks....". Pray that I survive this annoying in-between time.
Enough of the complaining! Here is why I am excited for this week!
* Don comes into town on Thursday!
* Our good friend, Natalie, is surprising my other roomie Nikki on Wednesday night for a big sleepover! I am so excited!
* We have Alumni Weekend (Homecoming) this weekend and friends are coming into town. I have only seen Dave 2 times this entire year! We have big plans. Expect pictures.
* Sean Hannity is speaking at our school Friday. I am conservative and I like him.
* Payday on Thursday.
*Paid off a doctor bill. yay!
* 50 degree weather all week. Breaking out all sorts of turtleneck outfits!
*National Boss Day on Friday. Don't forget! I have been blessed with a great boss.
Have a great week!

My Blonde Hair
Queen Bee Swain asked me to post about my blonde hair! I have been blonde-headed all my life. I don't think people would recognize me any differently! As a little girl, I was cotton-headed -- pure white hair! As I got older into the pre-teen years, it started to turn an ugly dirty blonde, lifeless shade. So, I got highlights in 9th grade. Loved them! I continued on with bi-monthly highlights until the summer before my freshman year of college. I thought to myself one day, "I wonder if I can pay $7 instead of $85 and use a BOX?" So, I tried it and it turned out beautifully. I do not think everyone could do this if your natural color leans more toward the darker side, but since I have such light hair anyway, it really picks up color well (and fast!). So, ladies, this is what I use once a month: Garnier color in Extra-Light Natural Blonde! I do go to the salon two to three times a year for professional color (just color, not highlights), but this little box gets me through the in-between months. I just apply it to my roots.
Although, at times I do get bored with my all-blonde shade! Two summers ago, I went 'wild' and got low-lights! I had three shades of blonde put into my hair. I actually really liked it. But, I just had to go back to my all blonde shade. What are your thoughts on the low-lights? Sometimes I feel that I would want to do them again, but Don says he likes it all blonde.... so I probably should keep it that way, huh?

Today's Outfit
As funny as I feel about posting pictures of just myself, I had to do it today to show you all this adorable dress! I know a lot of you post OOTD (Outfit of the Day) posts, but I have always felt weird doing that! Maybe I shouldn't? The high today was 67, so I decided to wear tights and boots for the first time this season. It is very exciting! I wore a new dress belonging to the Kristin Davis collection. My mom was so sweet to buy it for me this weekend -- it is so comfortable and I think the "Berry Bliss" print is adorable.

Why I Love this Week
I always love getting up in the morning, sipping coffee, and catching up on blogs. I pretty much have to coach myself into stopping to shower and get ready for work. I had a great weekend with my mom! She came up for a quick visit and it was so good to see her and spend time with her. Don also came down one night to hang out!

We are now in our 2nd week of October, which is crazy to think about! Here is why I love this week:
* I have a work trip today that will require some interaction with my boyfriend. No, no, no, this was not planned, but just worked out that way. There really is a valid reason why I needed to be where he works. But, it is a nice perk.
* I am having a date with myself tonight at Barnes and Noble. "Barnes" is one of my favorite places to go and just relax. I plan to catch up on many magazines & possibly get a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
* I have another work trip to D.C. Thursday & Friday. Should be a great event!
* Lots of things planned at Don's house this weekend. We take turns each weekend going back and forth and it works out great. We have a football game that afternoon & a banquet to attend that evening. I get to break out a dressy dress!
* I will have time to run four days in a row.
Have a great Monday!

Kreativ Blogger Award

Here are the rules:
1.) Thank the person who gave this to you!
2.) Copy the logo and place it in your blog!
3.) Link the person who nominated you!
4.) Name 7 things about yourself that no one would really know.
5.) Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.
6.) Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7.) Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know you nominated them!
Thank you Misadventures in Matrimony!
Seven things about myself that I think no one would really know are:
1. I wear a size 4 ring finger.
2. Sometimes I am OCD and have to make sure the locks are indeed locked 3 times before going to bed.
3. I have flown in a private jet 5 times. Two times were straight flights from Jacksonville, FL to Vancouver, Canada.
4. I can be blunt at times and then I normally feel bad about 10 minutes afterward.
5. I am a very content person. I am never after the 'next best thing'. Materials fade.
6. There are days when I want to go to law school because it looks glamorous, but I know better than to think that! I will just stick to Marketing.
7. One thing I hope people would know is that I am a Christian and follower of Jesus Christ!
There are seven recent blogs I have loved and would like to nominate!
Heather at Live.Love.Laugh
The New Black
Kelsey at The Seattle Smiths
In No Simple Language
Brown Girl Blogs
Paisley & Pearls
Caroline at Through Rose Colored Glasses
By the way, my boyfriend just google chatted me and said my new blog design is "rockin"! Glad he is stopping by!

Thanks to Danielle at Girls Night Out Custom Blog Designs, I now have a new blog makeover! I absolutely love it! I went to college with Danielle and we are from the same city in Florida. My take on the Shred
I have been reading a lot of blogs lately that are either Shredding or are going to start the Shred soon. My advice to those considering it is to go for it and my advice for those who have half-way started it is to keep going. You haven't seen anything until you get to Level 3! I weighed myself Saturday morning and I am down 10 pounds since May (without the GYM!). I am so excited. I did not want to lose weight super fast -- I have always been of the belief that consistent lifestyle changes are what get you to your goal and help you stay there. With my busy work and social schedule and travel almost every weekend, I do not have time any longer to dedicate 6 days a week to exercise -- I want to -- but, it is now more like 3 or 4. Because of this, I really have to watch what I eat, but I have still managed to see the scale creep lower and lower bit by bit. If I lose 5 more, I will be at the weight I was my freshman year of college. How crazy is that?! I would like to get there by Christmas, but we will see about that.
If you didn't get anything I said in that paragraph, please get this: I do highly recommend the Shred workout system. If completed up to 4 times a week (after the initial 30 straight days which I did complete) paired with 30 minutes of moderate running (a 50 min. workout in all), you should definitely see some changes happen. Sometimes it is a slow process, but one day you will put on your favorite pair of jeans like I did and go, "Wow! These fit great." Keep it up!

Why I Love this Week
What a great idea from Live.Love.Laugh! She had this cute graphic designed so that each Monday, we can post why we are excited about the week. I needed this kick in the right direction this morning. I had to stay home from work today because I am not feeling well and am just a tad bit down. Ever have a down day? I have them from time to time. I am sitting here thinking, how can I be down? It's 67 degrees outside and sunny! Having this post will literally force me to focus on the positives of this week. So, here I go:
*The weather is staying in the high 60s, low 70s. All week long.
*My mother is coming up to visit Friday-next Monday.
*Wednesday is payday. Thank Goodness.
*My sweet boyfriend bought me a massage this week.
*My favorite TV shows are on this week: The Biggest Loser, Grey's Anatomy, and The Office.
*I am getting caught up on laundry.
Here are some pictures from Saturday's game. It was pouring rain!! We had to leave at the 1/2 because we were concerned about our puppy, Hutch.

Oh, I was already soaked -- 1 hour before the game started! I had to borrow Don's raincoat because I don't have one.

Holiday Cards from Papyrus
I know it is only September, but I am such a big planner. I don't think it's too early to start thinking about Christmas cards, do you? This will be my first year sending out cards on my own and I am very excited! I cannot decide it I want something cutesy or classy. I guess future years can always have a classy card, so I am thinking of going the cutesy route this year. I passed through Papyrus yesterday at Union Station in Washington and loved their Christmas card box collection. It got me in the spirit -- even though it was 87 degrees! Here were a few of my favorites!

Other sites with cute cards are Swoozies & Snapfish! However, Snapfish are photocards, and I don't think a card with a big picture of myself would be appealing to friends and family!

Juggling the Computer
Do you find yourself working late at night? I do. I get in bed with my laptop and ... work. This has been necessary this week because I have been out of town and in lots of meetings, so I find that this is my only time to catch up. I get stressed when email gets more than a day behind! OCD? na...
I have been on the web now for three hours straight and I have still yet to catch up on blogs! It has been quite the busy week and I can't believe tomorrow is Thursday! For the past 3 hours, I have been in web zoom mode. I send a work email, then check facebook Inbox (which keeps creeping up in numbers too!), check the news, check everyone's twitter, set a work calendar reminder, repeat. I find myself switching from page to page trying to squeeze it all in!
Tomorrow, I have one meeting in the morning, then I am heading home. I have another fun weekend planned with Don and friends. Pretty much every weekend from now until Christmas is planned with fun activities!
Also, all I can say is I am so thankful for the GPS this week. I would have been lost without it in this crazy city!

Weekend recap
Friday
I drove up to Don's house after a long work week and we had a celebratory dinner for him and then saw "Love Happens." I looked at Don halfway through the movie and asked if he was bored. He said, "Yes?!" I started laughing. The movie was just A-OK. I probably won't see it again, but it is maybe worth it if you are totally bored on a rainy day.
Saturday
I woke up at 8 a.m. on a Saturday! Awful, I know. However, I had a golfing gig to make. I used to really enjoy golf, but it had been about a year since I had swung a club. With a little tweaking to my swing, courtesy of Don, I was hitting them pretty far and even Straight!
The golf course was beautiful! It was tucked away in a teeny bitty town about 15 minutes outside of where Don lives.

I don't know if I would necessarily categorize this as a golfing outfit, but oh well! Sometimes polos irritate my neck.
I am wearing my media pass! I was too excited when Don got it for me. At first I carried it in my bag (so I could have my necklace showing) and would show it to the security, but then I finally put it on. Wear it loud and proud.
Yay!

Eat a good Breakfast
I have always read and heard that women who eat a good breakfast every morning will maintain their weight better or even lose weight if they are trying to do so. I will admit that I wake up starving! I rarely skip meals. I have the eating breakfast part down, now I just need to establish a solid time to eat it. There are days when I press the snooze button over and over a few too many times and end up running out the door with only a tumbler of Dunkin Donuts vanilla coffee & a Fiber 1 bar in hand. I get so wrapped up in driving to work, walking from my miles-away parking spot (will explain later), and getting settled into my laptop at work checking emails and starting the day that I forget to eat my Fiber 1 Bar until 10 a.m. hits and my stomach reminds me. I normally will eat it but then it messes up my lunch time because I am not hungry at noon or 1. I find that when I forget breakfast, it throws off my day and eating schedule. I guess the entire point of this post is that I had 2 slices of wheat toast this morning with OJ & a cup of coffee before leaving the house and it is now 11 a.m. and I still feel fueled and alert. It definitely has given me energy to plow through my morning to-do list.
My question is what do you all eat for breakfast? Do you even eat it? Or, better yet, what do you working ladies eat for breakfast and lunch on workdays? I typically stick to the basics of toast, fiber 1 bars, a CLIF bar, or occasionally cereal. I make pancakes for Don and I on Saturday mornings, but that's another post. Anyhow, please enlighten me!

Apartment Shopping
It is that time again where I feel like I am always moving! I have not lived in one place for longer than one year in like 6 years. I moved from Jacksonville, FL, to Alabama, to college dorms, back to Alamaba, back to dorm, to D.C. for short-term internship, back to Virginia apartment, back to D.C. for job, back to Virginia best friend's apartment for 2 months, then finally into where I live now! Whew! Such as life....! I moved into a large home with 3 other girls last December after moving back from D.C. and have enjoyed my time there very much. The owner of the home has decided to put it on the market to sell soon, so all the housemates will be going our separate ways soon. Many memories have been made in that house as well as lifelong friendships formed. One of my current roomies and I have decided to branch off together and find an apartment with a year lease, so the search has officially started. We are moving out November 10, so about 7 weeks to go. We have looked at several 2 bedroom townhomes & apartments and will make a decision the first week of October. I think we are both on the same page as far as what we are looking for --- here are some of our "Apartment Musts":
Dark cabinets
Stainless Steel appliances would be nice, but black will do too
Walk-In Closets are pretty much a neccessity
Washer & Dryer included
Water included in Rent
Nice floor plan
Good location in town
Newer development
So far, we have narrowed it down to two that we really like: a townhome and an apartment. The price difference is only $25 so that's really not a huge factor. I will be sure to keep you updated on our decision process! We love both, but there are pros and cons for the two of them and we cannot decide yet!

I cry every time!
I cry every time this show comes on. How about you? I look forward to The Biggest Loser each season -- it is so inspirational! I think I lose weight watching it too because 2 hours every Tuesday night with Jillian makes me want to exercise more. I feel this show serves as such a role model to America. To me, this show does not just cater to the feelings of just looking good, although it is an added benefit, but I believe that it goes way deeper than that. I respect individuals who want to stay healthy not just for themselves, but for those around them. Working out and losing weight to stay healthy for their kids and loved ones is moving. Should be a great season! I like how shows like this are so long that it lasts all the way up to the Christmas season.

My friend & her Officer
Last weekend, we headed down to Charlotte, NC for Meghan and Eli's wedding. The wedding was held at a hotel in downtown Charlotte. They had a rooftop wedding ceremony and the reception was held inside one of the hotel ballrooms. We had a great time and I loved getting to see one of my best friends get married! Eli is an officer in the U.S. Army and is stationed in Savannah, GA, so that is where they will be living. He is set to go to the Middle East in December for a whole year, so we will be keeping him and Meghan in our prayers.

Work weekend & more Cupcakes
It is September 1 and that means it's Fall! Well, not technically, but it is to me anyways. The weather in Virginia is gorgeous today and it feels so good!
I had to be in D.C. this past weekend for a work trip. I always enjoy going, and from what my schedule looks like, I will be up there a lot this fall. Fine by me!
At the end of the day, we drove around in the crazy traffic for fifteen minutes in the Georgetown neighborhood and then squeezed into a teeny parallel spot. It was Don's first trip to this little jewel and I wasn't leaving until he tried it! I'm sure he was thinking, "This place better be good, Britt!" with all the driving we did. Come to find out in the end that he doesn't like icing! So, we opted for a sprinkled topping cupcake for him.

And here they are! We also picked two up for our friend's Jen and Dustin. We all like the red velvet with cream cheese icing.

We were so tired from the busy day Saturday that we spent a Sunday in chill-mode. We went to the park and read travel magazines and grabbed Starbucks.... took a drive... went to the grocery store..... I love Sundays like that! >>with church included, of course!
This current week is FLYING by. Tonight, I am meeting with my friend, Jordan, at Starbucks and then going to see "My Sister's Keeper." The previews make it seem like I may just cry!

Crazy Week!
Happy Friday! Thank you to everyone for all of your sweet comments on my post last week. I enjoyed reading them. It has been so much fun catching up on all of your recent happenings as well. I love the new vlogs that some have started doing. They are adorable. By the way, I hope to get a bloglift in the next two months, so please just get through this boring layout theme for a little while with me!
This week:
Working in higher education, the first weeks of both the fall and spring semesters are out of control. I cannot believe it is already Friday! Lots have gone on this week with work and I am trying not to be stressed, but needless to say, I have been! I keep reminding myself to breathe and that it will all be okay.
I am heading up to Don's home today for a great weekend! Pictures will be taken this weekend that I will post Monday! I need to stay in my picture-taking mode. He and I will be in D.C. Saturday for a morning/mid-afternoon work thing I have and then meeting my friend, Jen for lunch.
On a more personal note, you may remember this post when I said I was going to try "The 30 Day Shred". Since May, I have still not joined the gym and have managed to lose 9 pounds (per the scale this morning!). I have just 6 more to go and I will be at my ideal! Pretty easy, huh? Should be! I did not do the Shred everyday, however, I do it 3x a week and combine it with 4 days of 40 minute cardio sessions, whether it be running or Taebo. I have also modified my diet, in that I keep my carb intake in check and also cut out snacking. I would provide you with a sample menu of what I eat but it's very boring and bland. I really only cook when Don is in town! Other than that, it's salad, yogurt, sometimes toast, and occasionally pasta for me on the weeknights!
Do you ever have a hard time parting with things you buy? I bought two barstools during college. They are adorbale, tall, white barstools from Target and I even assembled them when they arrived. I felt pretty proud! Well, I came to the conclusion last night that I really do not need them anymore. When I lived in DC, they remained in a storage unit and now they are too tall for the current bar in my home, so why not sell them? Well, I put an ad up and immediately got several responses. Now I am second thinking it..... maybe I don't want to sell them afterall?! I don't know! Here is a picture of me effortlessly (haha, ya right) putting them togehter Summer 2007.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

The last three months
have been the most amazing three months ever. Being why I have been too occupied to blog. I have been out of town traveling a lot, had possible job changes, moved to a new bedroom in the house of girls I live with, and much more. All in all, I am here to stay in the beautiful state of Virginia and will be for a long time. Let me catch you up!
The first exciting piece of news to share is that I met the most amazing man I have ever met. He is truly my best friend and I have never been happier! Everyone close to me says I have this constant glow and I know it is only because the Lord has blessed me with an incredible man. Please meet Don!
This was one of our first pictures taken together. A lot of people say we look like we are running for public office. A lot of our pictures tend to look this way as you will see. It's quite funny! We have had some fun weekends throughout the summer! Starting with my birthday weekend. Don lives an hour and a half away, so we do commute back and forth taking turns each weekend. For my bday weekend, he came down and we went to Fleming's -- it is amazing! Great steak!
That Sunday afternoon, he surprised me with the idea of having a picnic. He is SUCH a planner. He had my birthday weekend planned and reservations set two weeks beforehand. I love that about him. Sunday, we headed to a large park, read magazine, snoozed for a bit, and ate our lovely lunch consisting of sandwiches, grapes, and our favorite - Strawberries. Don went out and bought an adorable picnic basket with matching blankets. It was such a fun time.

This picture was taken before going out to the SunDial revolving restaurant in downtown Atlanta. It was a neat experience!Other highlights of our summer include a trip to Virginia Beach and hanging out in Don's down. Don has a new yellow lab named Hutch. He is 6 months old and is quite the handful!

He has already brought/surprised me with SO many flowers. These were on my desk last week.
Also, in the midst of the summer, our office moved into a brand new space. We absolutely <3 it! Here is me on move-in day! It was a jeans day.

I told you I am going to be Maid of Honor at my best friend, Meghan's wedding September 5. In May, she moved away from the town we both live in and it was sad to see her go! She and I have been living around one another since 2005. She will be moving to Savannah, GA afterwards as her husband travels to Iraq. She will be too far away, that's for sure! Here are some pictures of her recent showers!

The rest of the summer has been full of spending time with good friends! We have double dated with our good friends Jen and Dustin several times and had lots of fun!

Got to spend some time last Sunday with my roomie, Nikki (middle), and old roomie, Natalie. Natalie now lives in D.C. and we miss her!Last but not least was the Alaskan cruise! I flew out of Roanoke, VA and met up with my family in Atlanta. We flew into Seattle and enjoyed the city for a day, then boarded the ship for a 7-night Alaskan adventure. This was my 5th time.

I hope you enjoyed this super long post! I promise I will be more regular from now on. In the mean time, please excuse this boring background. I will have something different soon! I have an exciting fall planned -- almost every weekend has something fun planned!

There are days when I cannot think of a title for my post -- such as today.
First things first -- I hopped on the scale this morning and saw that I have lost six pounds! I have not necessarily been trying all that much, but I seem to be the type that when I have something exciting going on in my life, I don't eat as much because I'm just not that hungry. I have eaten a lot of salad lately. Funny enough that I have only worked out like 4 days per week. It's confusing to me because when I was trying to lose weight back in February, I was working out almost everyday and the scale would not budge. Maybe it was because I was emotionally stressed out? Not sure. Anyway, all I know is that I have some clothes that are fitting much better. The ultimate goal is to be where I was my sophomore year of college. I never gained the 'Freshman 15' because I was an aerobic instructor at the University I attended, so I really had no choice BUT to be fit. And, I wanted to be. I always had to watch what I ate because people that took my classes would look at my plate. Let's just say I rarely ate late-night pizza. Those were quite the days. The days where I had nothing to worry about except school. I had the amazing opportunity to spend hours at the gym every night not only teaching 3 aerobic classes per week, but also working out for myself. Okay, I don't know how I got off on that tangent.
I wanted to post more pictures from last weekend at home!
My grandfather (dad's dad) came down to visit on my Birthday. He is in his 80s and I thought it was so sweet that he drove all the way down for it. This picture was taken at one of the Robert Trent Jones golf trails in Alabama.
This is not a picture from my weekend at home, but I wanted to post it anyway. These are girls I that I worked with in another department of my job before I switched. We were at the rehearsal dinner .Brittney

Refreshed.
Right now, no other word describes my mood or outlook on life but refreshed. I feel something going on in my heart and in my life and I feel the work of God's hand surrounding me. I finally let go and let God. Have you ever heard that saying? I let go -- and I feel good. Though it may be sad and hard at times to let go of what you think is right or what you just 'know' is supposed to be, when you find yourself going around in circles over and over again with no hope of edging out of that loop -- you will fail. It will fail. Whatever you are trying to accomplish will fail. No blessing will come out of something that is not crafted by God in His perfect will and timing. I am thankful today - Thankful that I saw the light before a possible disaster in the future. I am thankful I learned a lesson from a roommate who went through what I did. She finally obeyed God and her life has truly been blessed. I can now officially say, that I have obeyed, too. And, I feel amazing.
